My name is Hex, and as well as being a gamer, I’m a blogger and graduate student. I’m a first year PhD candidate in Rhetoric and Composition, and my academic focus is analysis and pedagogical use of New Media texts, including and especially videogames.
This blog is a chance for me to test out academic ideas, write about fandom, ramble about theory and research, and discuss my primary academic exploits. All of this is including and not limited to television shows, videogames, game studies, rhetoric, analysis, pedagogy, representation in new media, intersectionality, feminism, identity, Shakespeare, literature, graphic novels, fandom culture, adventures in existence, navigating the treacherous waters of academia, and poking the internet with a stick to see what falls out.
I promise that regardless, there will always be New Media, and always be Mayhem. Welcome to my blog, enjoy your stay.
